"BIBLE CELEBRITY SERIES" CONTINUES

ISAAC – THE GENTLEMAN

Isaac sat on his bed, blind but fully awoke. He guessed its time for him to bless his first-born son before he became senile. Rebekah, his lovely wife, stood outside his room, knowing his time was near. She remembered how their love and marriage were heaven-matched and a tear dropped from her once smooth cheek. Although the marriage was far from perfect, she always referred him as the gentleman. He was a godly, down to earth and peace-loving man. He never complained about anything, always trusting the God of his father Abraham. When the Lord revealed to him that he would carry the dream of his father in his life time, he fully obeyed. Many times, he was willing to let go of his worldly possession, thus avoided quarrelling with others. He was quick to make peace with many people. More tears flowed as Rebekah was reminded of his husband’s great deeds.

“Esau, my son, prepare my favourite food and I give you my blessing before I die,” Isaac called as he heard Esau, his first-born son approaching. Rebekah was stunned. When the twin, Esau and Jacob were born to the couple, there was a small tussle in the family just like it was even in Rebekah’s womb. Isaac loved Esau because he was the first-born, a natural carrier of his father’s dream. When Esau married outside of their clan, to a Hittite woman, Rebekah was hurt. She preferred Jacob, the younger son, to be the blessed one. Although Isaac was grieved at Esau’s marriage, he chose him because Isaac was always the gentleman.

“No way, my love! Not this time!” Rebekah whispered to herself as she hid, listening to the conversation. “I must stop Esau from wasting away the blessing,” she thought to herself. Rebekah knew about how Esau even sold his birthright to Jacob for a bowl of soup, detesting the importance of God’s dream to Abraham and Isaac. She decided to make a scheme with Jacob to cheat Isaac from blessing Esau. Jacob, at the insistence of his mother, pretended to be Esau and approached his father. Taking advantage of Isaac’s blindness, they succeeded in tricking him. So, Isaac blessed Jacob, thinking that it was Esau, thus the blessing flowed towards the younger son. The God-given dream of Abraham and of Isaac, now was Jacob to carry.

Happy and scared at the same time, Jacob went out, and he encountered Esau on the way in. When Esau asked for the blessing, his father was stunned. Although Isaac was blind, he could see that what was spoken by him would remain. He must remain a gentleman. More importantly, he knew nothing could stop God from doing what was His dream in the first place. So, Esau got nothing from being the first-born although he cried bitterly. The first tussle between Esau and Jacob in the womb of Rebekah became an all-out war. Man can lie and cheat to get the blessing, but God always has the final say. And that’s what Isaac, the gentleman knew all along.

Abram whistled as he sat on the rocking chair at his farm rest house after the day work. Sarai came with a teaport full of their favorite tea and they sat down, enjoying the sunset. Abram always wanted to see beyond what behind those hills and mountains. aybe one day, God will call,?he thought to himself. As they cuddled close to each other arms, Terah walked by. i Dad!?Abram and Sarai spoke, almost simultaneously. It was Terah, the well-respected man, who initiated the journey from Ur to Haran, fueled by deep dissatisfaction for the idolatrous Urians. ow was your day??the dark, burly man queried. ame old thing,?Abram replied. t was not the same old thing years ago,?started Terah, as he retold of the stories he heard about Adam, Noah and the flood. e all came from Shem, the righteous son of Noah after the flood. But then, something happened along the way as usual, we lost track of God.?Abram could see the sadness in his face.

Many years later?

Abram, Sarai and nephew Lot set out to he Land? Following popular routes and livable places, they went from one place to another. As they traveled, Abram and Sarai vision of God became clearer and clearer. They began to be totally committed to the cause of God. They knew this was a journey of no return. A journey with a great vision for the entire world.

Abram and Sarai encountered many adventurous moments, some bad ones, some dangerous ones. As Lot, his nephew chose gold rather than God, they parted way. After many events came and gone, then when Abram was 99 years old ?/STRONG>

Laterarah overheard a conversation of she bearing a child next year and she laughed. saac? (Isaac means laughter) Is it a joke??The heavenly visitors that came to see Abraham kept their cool and said, s anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to see you pregnant.?The first sentence convinced Sarah it could all be possible.

Next Year?Isaac (Laughter) did fill Abraham household as promised. From then on, they would not laugh at any of God promises ever again. Instead, they would laugh at circumstances and testings in their lives. At one point, even the test concerning sacrificing Isaac at the altar was carried out by Abraham without question. He believed God to the max. Even if he did kill Isaac, Abraham believed God would raise him back to life!

Sarah, I so very glad that I obeyed God in Haran,?Abraham whispered as they cuddled each other at the farm rest house over tea. raise God that He chose us to carry His vision for the whole world,?Sarah answered with wisdom. et toast that Isaac will carry on the torch,?Abraham held up his cup. Sarah laughed and there they toast?from Isaac to blessings throughout the whole world.

Now, Noah, the Best Man!

Our second Bible celebrity…..Noah….round of applause, please! God’s eyes “googled” all over the world for the best amongst the worst of humans to carry on His dreams. The appalling fallen state of man since Adam’s death bite made God “sick”! Some said time could heal but time deteriorated minds and hearts of souls created in God’s image. Aiyah (Malaysian Sigh)! The worst of times was an understatement. No one even looked up to the heavens and said, “Is there a God?” No one!! Was there anyone?? Alright…there is one. The spotlight fell on Noah and his family. One man made the difference. One righteous man.

“Noah! Noah!” God whispered.

“Yes! Yes!” Noah answered.

“I will wipe out earthlings from the earth!”

“…..Huh? …Okay….”

“Make me a big ark.”

“….Huh?...Ark….Okay…”

“When the time comes, bring you, your family and two of all living creatures, male and female into the ark.”

“…Me (Check)…Family (Check) …..a….ni..mals?….no other species?

“Yes….you guys are the only humans.”

“…Oh…”

“I will send rain to wipe them out.”

“Rain?....Okay….Must rain a lot”

“Forty days and forty nights.”

“That’s…..a lot.”

“That’s right. They deserved a lot.”

Noah obeyed God to the very dot. The family got right on with the building of the boat while everyone went about building their deep foundations on earth. They carried on with their wicked schemes and violent ways. Initially, people would gather around to listen to Noah’s story of the sin of Adam and the need to repent. After a hundred years of jeering and taunting, Noah felt exactly how God felt. “They deserved a lot….of rain”

Rain it came! Every house built deep into the earth began to wilt. Every success story on earth washed away. Gold and silver swept away like wood and hay. The wicked and violent human race came to a halt, all inhabitants had one question in mind, “I should have entered the boat!” Death is no respecter of person, rich and poor, kings and farmers, lions and ants. Wickedness always resulted in heavy consequences. The example of Adam was long forgotten by these people. Obeying God was a long-gone behaviour. Noah and family were considered people from another planet.

As the water receded and the ark came to a stand still, Noah came out and he stretched. “Whooi! Anybody out there??” he screamed. He heard someone shouted back on the other side. The same words. Straightaway, he knew they were the only ones on the face of the earth. “Oh…I feel like Adam.” And then he quickly uttered praises to God for his family. “Come on guys, we have work to do!”

After many years (maybe less), Noah and his family continued to worship and serve God faithfully, offering animal sacrifices for their sins. Then…

“Noah, Noah,” God whispered.

“Yes! Yes!” Noah answered.

“I love you. Take care of the earth for me.”

“Whole earth? ...Okay….”

“Be fruitful and mulitply.”

“Huh? …..Okay….Lord, no guarantee that they behave!”

“I will never destroy the earth like this again.”

“Whew….Thanks.”

“But I will make each one accountable for their own sins.”

“Fair.”

“One more thing. I make a covenant with you right now.”

“Oh…Okay.”

“I will never destroy the earth again through flood.”

“I trust Your promises.”

“Anyway, I still want to show you a sign, lest your descendants forget.”

“Wow! But…but I will worship You regardless of signs or not.”

“Yes. I know you. Now, look up!”

A marvellous rainbow appeared right above Noah’s head. The whole family quickly laid down on the field to watch the spectacular sight. That was the most joyous occasion since Noah was born. “Today, all the heartaches we went through serving God, it’s all worth it!” Noah exclaimed. As he laid there close with his wife, he whispered to her, “God said, be fruitful and multiply….”

ADAM, THE FIRST MAN

Ta ta....the first celebrity is ...Adam! Clap! Clap! Clap... for the clayman...the first man, handsome, which none could compare. Many eyes were widened, surrounded him but they stood speechless. Anyway, they couldn’t talk if they wanted to because they were animals! God, the Creator, was extremely pleased with His masterpiece although it was effortless for Him. "I love you more than all the entire world I have created," God often said to him. Adam led out a loud shout of praise without fear of disturbing anyone, while he sat on a tree, gulping down a sweet juicy fruit. The branches and the leaves of the trees "clapped their hands in delight". "I feel good..so good!" he would sing over and over again.

Some time passed, maybe about a thousand years, (maybe more or maybe not), Adam felt humanly lonely. The lions and the cows looked sad too. "Can we help?" they must be thinking but couldn’t utter a single word. All they could do was smile at him. Adam would pat them and "Hiyah!" (Malaysian sigh) away. God looked down and said, "It’s time!"

When Adam awoke the next day, there stood the most stunning "another" (he couldn’t make up what "it" was) staring at him. "Hi! How’s things around here?" That "thing" spoke in the most beautiful of voices and very different from the moos, the roars, the meows and the woofs. And then God whispered, "Hey, it’s your kind and it’s a she. Go, prepare to be hitched. (Marriage)"

"Yes! Oh Yes! Y.E.S.!" Adam screamed and danced like a mad man, kissing every animal which could not escape his moment of madness. "Wooo man! It’s so womanderful!" He showed her the whole garden for about twenty years or so. All those years, they talked and talked, all kinds of topics ranging from trees to animals and animals to trees. Of course, in between, they always worshipped God, their Creator. And after dating for a couple hundred of years, they fell deeper and deeper in love! And God looked down and said, "It’s time! Be fruitful and increase in number, fill the earth and dominate it."

That’s the story of our celebrity before that bad, bad move....

God told them, "Eat from any tree in the garden but not that one, because it is bad for you." One day, Adam’s wife was hungry and she chanced upon that tree which God said not to eat. The fruits were looking astonishingly fresh and juicy. Her eyes were stuck to one particular awesome looking fruit. As she was mesmerised to try that fruit, a voice from that tree spoke, "Try me. I’m different. You will gain special insight into your very life." Then she realised it was the snake who spoke, thinking that God had also created animals with speech. The devil had found the perfect opportunity. The slimy creature shouldn’t be dangling on that forbidden tree for crying out loud. It was so tempting that she soon forgot the very command of God and the consequences of her disobedience. She took that forbidden fruit. It was an awesome feeling! "My husband must try it!" Adam saw her running from far away, all excited to tell and share. Faces showed a thousand stories and he was convinced of the power of the fruit. Our celebrity took a bite and it shook the entire garden. The heavens vibrated in disapproval. The consequences of that very act of disobedience were heavier than two of them could ever know.

From then on, Adam always had to look regretfully from outside the garden. The pure relationship between God and man broken. The intimacy between husband and wife disintegrated. The future of Adam’s children and the children’s children were wrecked. All for just one bite! Indeed, the bite of death!

This story (somethings are added for better understanding) was taken from the book of Genesis 1-3. The far-reaching consequences of humans’ disobedience continue, even snowballed, all over the world. From a beautiful story of creation and such magnificent garden to become heart wrenching to its Creator. Even then, God’s great love for Adam and the whole world did not stop Him from loving them and coming down to help them.

BIG-TIME COLLAPSE!!

Pakistan's government has collapsed! Chaos reigns on the streets and the number one question would be, "Who is minding the nuclear weapons?" With this uncertainty, India is testing nuclear missiles just to show its prowess!

Iran has produced its first nuclear warheads and experts say, there are many more to come! The president of Iran has threatened to use the weapons on Israel and the US bases in the region and beyond!

Israel is on highest alert ever in their existence as a nation since 1948! All nuclear weapons were readied and pointed towards all its so-called enemy countries!

USA has sent stealth fighters carrying nuclear warheads zooming across the Middle East in preparation for any eventuality!

European countries have united together to form a powerful army, ready to pounce on anyone who dares to attack any European country.

China has called all their army reserves numbering many millions to bolster their strength just in case.

The Stock Market around the globe has already crashed to the lowest since the days of Depression and many countries have already plunged into deep recession.

All these are just scenarios of the last days and they may or may not happen in our (the readers) life time! It could happen differently. One has to choose whether to be a part of these scenarios or ONE scenario that God intended for all those who love Him! That is, Jesus' coming to take us away to be with Him forever before these chaos reign. The wrath (judgment) of God is on all those who reject Jesus, who was sent by God, thus rejecting God Himself!

(John 3:36) Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."

(Luke 10:16) ...... but he who rejects me rejects him (Father) who sent me."

The burning question of the raging fire in Greece is, WHODUNIT? The answers may vary, "It could be arsonists", or "A smoker who threw his cigarette butt into the bush" or "A barbeque party that went seriously wrong". But the extent of the furiously raging fire may cancel out all these assumptions. Who could have set a fire and burn all over a nation??? The Greeks couldn't have anticipated what happens today, not in a million years. But why now? Not only the Greeks are asking, many nations are asking about the wierd happenings all over the world. Even the animals are asking???

(Rom 8:22-23) We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.

In these two "groaning" verses, we find the answers to the present difficulties! Even believers in Jesus groan inwardly, waiting for that glorious day. That day where our bodies will no longer be subjected to the torturous cycle of violence, calamities, wars, fire....etc. However, during this time on earth, be prepared for more, worse calamities....

(Luke 21:10-11) Then he (Jesus) said to them: "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.

Who are the people seriously looking for the coming of that day? All those who are God-fearing, Jesus-worshipping, peace-loving, and good-doing people! People who find no fulfillment and no satisfaction with the things of the world! Those who know that Jesus is the only answer!

Sadly, many still look for better systems to improve this world as if the technology and capability of men can help them solve problems. The systems of the world have failed and they will continue to fail. How much longer can men and women s..t...r..e...t..c..h... in order for them to call out to Jesus for help! Until they have no breath to even whisper the name of JESUS!! Oh...what an irony...when the Saviour Jesus had taken their loads of sins off their backs, they still carry them, climbing uphill in life!

Yes, the believers in Jesus are groaning but we groan in hope for the redemption of our bodies! For the day that prophet Isaiah spoke of, many thousands years ago....

(Isa 65:17-25) "Behold, I will create new heavens and a new earth. The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind. But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create, for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy. I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people; the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more. "Never again will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who does not live out his years; he who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere youth; he who fails to reach a hundred will be considered accursed. They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree, so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy the works of their hands. They will not toil in vain or bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the LORD, they and their descendants with them. Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear. The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but dust will be the serpent's food. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain," says the LORD.

GOD VERSUS HUMANS

There are many versions of views how people perceive a subject. For example...how best a government should be, how peace can prevail, how humans should relate to one another etc etc. Even the increasing environmental disasters are being heavily debated, whether they are really destroying earth or just the normal occurances. Many views are being spoken concerning the ongoing violence and wickedness all across the globe. Some said to talk and some said to fight. Some said to understand and some to refute peacefully. The recent gay church issue in Malaysia was an interesting one. The "Christian" gays/lesbians are justifying their acts by saying, "God loves gay and lesbians!" The Malaysian gay pastor who is now one of the pastors in New York's biggest gay church was disappointed by Christians in this country who rebuked him for his lifestyle. Not only that, he wanted others to follow him by saying it's all right to have sex with the same kind and still be a believer in Jesus! Some homosexuals were relieved to have him and viewed him as a hero. Others just kept quiet about their lifestyle and struggled on with God.

The main question is "what is God saying about all this?"

(Rom 1:25-28) They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done.

(1 Cor 6:9-11) Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you WERE. But you WERE washed, you WERE sanctified, you WERE justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

(1 Tim 4:1-2) The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.

So, humans can twist and turn their words, through whatever experiences they encounter, they would still be wrong (darkness) when God's Word (light) says otherwise. Why are these people still think they are right and "twist" God's arms for it? Simple. To make them feel relieve for what they know it's wrong. Thieves will justify why they steal. Rapists will justify why they rape. Murderers will justify why they kill. Terrorists will justify why they murder innocent lives. God will love us anyway, isn't He?

All of these come out from the sinful hearts of humans. The Pharisees questioned Jesus why His disciples did not wash their hands when eating. Jesus said....

(Mat 15:17-19) "Don't you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.' For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander.

What about the gay pastor and his would be band of followers? They are Christians, aren't they?

(Prov 16:25) There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

God loves gay and He loves them changed for His glory! It's possible, like the Christians in the Corinthian Church! There are help available. Most churches today (I believe) are now trained to love homosexuals but we absolutely DO NOT condone their lifestyle.

One rainy afternoon I was driving along one of the main streets of town, taking those extra precautions necessary when the roads are wet and slick. Suddenly my daughter, Aspen, spoke up from her relaxed position in her seat. "Dad, I'm thinking of something." This announcement usually meant she had been pondering some fact for a while, and was now ready to expound all that her six-year-old mind had discovered. I was eager to hear. "What are you thinking?" I asked.
"The rain!" she began, "is like sin, and the windshield wipers are like God wiping our sins away."

Isn't it good that we have a God who forgives us everytime we sin and make mistakes along this pressured cooker world? Sin also comes with consequences and when God forgives us, He also desires us to repent. A day will come when the grace of God will be taken out of the way. The Bible calls it THE GREAT TRIBULATION or THE ABOMINATION THAT CAUSES DESOLATION or simply THE WRATH OF GOD! Therefore, we need to live our lives being watchful of "rain" in our lives but we are also be thankful of God who is always there to forgive us.
